Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay looks all set to take charge of Cardiff City for the last time in their Premier League tie away at Liverpool, as the Cardiff boss looks all set to be sacked by controversial chairman Vincent Tan.

The Scot will virtually be a dead man walking ahead of Saturday’s clash, after this weeks bizzare comments made by the rather unpopular Tan, who has expressed his upset at Mackay’s transfer dealings, style of play, and also the fact that he was planning to spend in the January transfer window.

Tan, has turned on Mackay, stating earlier in the week that Mackay will have no money to spend whatsoever, before a statement was leaked in the press that an email had been sent to Mackay, demanding him to resign, or face the sack.

Mackay, however, is looking to cling on to his fragile status as the club’s manager, as he would then be due a large pay out, when he is ultimately sacked by Tan. Mackay is due a seven-figure sum in compensation if his contract is terminated, will not be walking away from the job that he has held for two and a half years.

In another remarkable development on Friday, it is understood that the Cardiff striker Craig Bellamy was asked if he would be willing to take charge of the team on a temporary basis, until a permanent manager is appointed. Bellamy, who has always spoke highly of Mackay, made it clear that he was not interested in the position.

The process for Mackay’s replacement is already underway, with Tan stating through a Cardiff spokesman that the South Wales club have already interviewed fopur candidates to replace the Scot.

Molde manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer, Sven Goran Eriksson and former Liverpool boss Gerauld Houllier are all high upon Tan’s wanted list at the club.

It is widely reported that the Malaysian owner will provide the new manager with a considerable amount of funds to strengthen the squad, in a rather bizzare turn of events.

Mackay was due to attend a press conference at the club’s Vale of Glamorgan training base on Friday morning, before Cardiff’s trip to Liverpool, only for David Kerslake, his assistant, to appear in his place, as Mackay held crisis talks with Tan.

Kerslake stated to the awairing press…..

” As far as we are concerned it is just another game in which we face a wonderfully talented team. We have prepared all this week as professionally as always.”

Mackay and Tan’s relationship has become rather strained during the past few months, with Tan sacking Cardiff’s head of development, and close friend Ian Moody in October this year.

Tan has also made several high profile decisions in his time at the club, with his most notable to date being the change of the club’s strip, from traditional royal Blue, to Red, which angered supporters, feeling that Tan has mocked the clubs tradition.

Reports are stating the popular Mackay will be sacked whatever the result tomorrow.
