Man City are considering a summer swoop for Ben Gibson, according to reports.
The Middlesbrough man has been tracked by Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham over the past few months according to reports, due to his impressive performances since making the leap up to the top tier of English football.
City have now registered an interest in the 24-year old and with the defender both young and English, he fits both quotas for signing players that Pep Guardiola has set himself.
The former Barcelona man has claimed he would like to aim to sign younger players and also sign English players to build a core of homegrown players.
Gibson would fit the criteria of being young and of being English.
He’s impressed many with his performances for Middlesbrough since helping them get promotion to the Premier League and he is now believed to be one of City’s top targets and could cost up to £25m to sign – which is a substantial fee for the player who has spent his entire career at Boro.
His commanding presence in the centre of defence and the fact he is willing to put his body on the line for his club would be a huge addition to any side and City hope it is them.
