A verbal ÂŁ30m bid lodged for Raheem Sterling

The 20-year-old has unsurprisingly attracted the attention of several top sides, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Although it seems that Pellegrini’s side have been the first to get the ball rolling in terms of a move.

Reports suggest they are to make a formal bid of ÂŁ25m plus up to ÂŁ5m in add-ons.

City making a move is likely to cause a bidding war, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also tracking the England international.

He has already said that a new contract offered to him by Liverpool worth ÂŁ90,000-per-week will not be signed.

But, Jordan Henderson has pleaded with Sterling to stay at the club.

“He is not who people think he is.”

“He gets a bit of criticism because of how things have been dealt with, but I know him better as a person.”

“I could not fault him as a person or a player. He is a great lad and gives everything for the team.”

“For such a young lad he is so mature and does not let the outside world affect him.”

“His work ethic is amazing, he is improving all the time. I hope we can keep him at Liverpool for many years, he can blossom here and become a top player.”
