Jose Mourinho frustrated with United’s ‘Ridiculous’ transfer strategy

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly frustrated with the club’s lack of intent ahead of the January transfer window. The Portuguese gaffer is unhappy with the fact that the club is not lining up his targets early with only 18 days left for the window to open.

Mourinho endured a strained relationship with United’s vice executive chairman Ed Woodward in the summer when he vetoed the moves to sign his defensive targets. Things do not look too bright for him this time around either, with the club reluctant to entrust the Portuguese tactician with any more funds to bolster his misfiring squad.

The Glazer family and Ed Woodward were all absent from the Mestalla as the Red Devils slumped to a 2-1 defeat in their final group game in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The absence of the club’s representatives did not go down well with Mourinho as he believes that the club owners are more concerned about making money rather than winning trophies.

The board’s reluctancy to back Mourinho in the transfer window might be a sign that he is currently living on borrowed time at Old Trafford and the trigger might be pulled on him at the end of the season if the results do not improve.

A source close to Mourinho said: “We are near the beginning of the transfer window and nobody knows anything.

“They are not working on selling players, they are not working on buying players and they have 58 scouts and three scouting bosses.

“It is ridiculous. Jose believes this is not the best way to rule a football club.”

What importance have those guys (who went) got in team matters?

“They don’t care about football, only money.
