Red Devils chiefs yesterday spoke about the possibility of bringing Coleman to Old Trafford

Man United have held talks over a possible move for Seamus Coleman from Everton. Red Devils chiefs all met yesterday to discuss a potential move for the 26-year old, who could now cost up to ÂŁ25m despite joining Everton for just ÂŁ60,000.

Louis Van Gaal knows he needs to strengthen his defence to mount a title challenge and after Coelman’s performances at Goodison Park, he is belived to be keen to add the Irishman to his squad.

During the meeting yesterday, chiefs are also believed to have spoken about the future of Radamel Falcao, who they have the option to sign permanently at the end of the season and also about a move for Nathaniel Clyne.

However, Van Gaal has tried to play down talk of making a big signing by saying: “I don’t think that we shall be very active as not many players of a certain level are available.

“When we buy a player he has to be better than the players that are playing now and that is a difficult job.”
