- The Old Trafford side is reported to have made an opening bid for the Everton left-back Leighton Baines according to The Times.
- David Moyes who was Baines last coach at Everton, could maybe tempt Baines to join the last season champions as he took over after Sir Alex retired last season.
- A bid around £10-£12m would be enough to tempt the Toffees to sell their most effective performer even though Baines stated his willingness to remain at Everton.
- Baines will know that a move to Man United will help in his push to unseat Ashley Cole from the left-back spot in Roy Hodgson’s England starting line-up, perhaps all the more relevant given the World Cup Finals in Brazil are less than a year away.
