The Red Devils have been tracking the defender for the last few months

Man United have today launched a bid of £38m for Victor Lindelof.

According to reports, the Red Devils have finally made their interest in the player concrete by launching a bid to bring him to the club in January.

Boss Jose Mourinho has been contemplating a bid for quite some time and it now appears that he is ready to make an official approach to bring the 22-year old to Old Trafford.

Boss Jose Mourinho has been contemplating a bid for quite some time and it now appears that he is ready to make an official approach to bring the 22-year old to Old Trafford.

The player himself seems keen on a move and with the lure of United now on offer during the winter transfer window, he could decide to leave Portugal and head to England when the window officially opens its doors on January 1st.

Impressed for club and country

The defender has impressed in the Portuguese Liga for Benfica so far this season and has shown he could be more than capable of cutting it in Europe’s top leagues – and Man United are ready to take a gamble on him.

Not only has he impressed for his club side, but he is also a starter for his national team of Sweden, where he has also impressed with his displays in the nation’s backline.

His showings for both club and country have clearly impressed Jose Mourinho, who now wants to land his signature as soon as possible – so much so that he is willing to spend an extra £8m to land him next month instead of at the end of the season.

Lindelof will reportedly have a £30m release clause in his contract at the end of the current season but rather than wait until the summer to trigger the clause and land him for cheaper, the Special One is that desperate to make him a United player that he will instead bid £38m for him now to try and land him in January.

It’s likely to tempt Benfica massively and they could decide to cash in on the defender now for extra cash despite his impressive showings in defence for them.
