Manchester United to trigger Samuel Umtiti’s £54m release clause this summer.
Red Devils are considering activating Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti’s £54m (€60m) release clause this summer.
The 24-year-old has developed into a key part of the Barca team after joining them from Lyon back in 2016. The Frenchman cost the Camp Nou club around £21m when he signed back then, but he could go for nearly three times that now.
Indeed, according to Spanish reports, Manchester United are weighing up a huge summer move for Umtiti by meeting his £54m release clause. Jose Mourinho is said to be a big fan of the player and he wants him in the heart of his defence for next season.
As well as coughing up £54m, United would also be willing to offer double Umtiti’s wages to £150,000-a-week if he joined.
The Old Trafford team believes that the attractive 9 million per year offer can lure away the french international star.
