Man United are ready to meet the release clause of Enzo Perez in January. The Benfica man was tipped to move to Old Trafford during the summer, but after weeks of interest, the Argentina inernational instead decided to put pen to paper on a new four-year deal in Portugal.

But Louis Van Gaal is once again keeping an eye on the 28-year old after discovering that Valencia plan to make a bid for him in the winter transfer window. It has also been revealed, that a release clause of ÂŁ23.5m was inserted into the midfielder’s new deal.

Van Gaal plans to match that fee to bring him to the Premier League and he also hopes that the lure of fellow countrymen Angel Di Maria and Marcos Rojo will convince him to move to England over Spain.

The Red Devils have been linked with a large number of playmakers and midfielders, from Arturo Vidal to Kevin Strootman, but a deal for Perez now seems the most likely deal to go ahead.
