Man United to offer Nani in deal for Rojo

Man United have held talks with Sporting Lisbon about using Nani as a makeweight in their attempt to sign Marcos Rojo. After a row between Rojo’s agent and Sporting earlier on this week, the Red Devils are prepared to offer Nani on loan in return and pay most of his wages.

However, there is one problem with this proposition – the Portugal international isn’t keen on a return to his former team. He would much rather move elsewhere or stay at Old Trafford.

Plus, with the Doyen agency owning 75% of Rojo, Sporting are keen for any potential buyer to offer just cash and meet the 24-year old’s release clause of ÂŁ24m. Louis Van Gaal has so far made just one bid of ÂŁ16m, which was rejected.

But, United are refusing to give in and they are planning another move in the next few days. Rojo himself has had to apologise in an interview on the club’s official TV channel on Sunday night, for trying to push through a move to the Premier League. He said:

“‘I was hot-headed and I’m sorry. I’ll be back with the rest of the [Sporting] squad tomorrow (Monday).”
