Former Manchester City defender Stefan Savic has emerged as a shock candidate to replace Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United, according to reports in Italy. David Moyes is currently on the lookout for a replacement for Vidic, who has said he is leaving the club this summer.
United have been linked with several potential replacements before now – most notably Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala and Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay – but Tuttosport is now saying Savic is the man to replace him. The centre-back joined Fiorentina from Man City back in 2012 in a swap deal for Matija Nastasic. The defender has managed to rebuild his reputation at the Italian club after an erratic season at Man City. Now, David Moyes wants to bring him back to the Premier League.
It has been claimed that Man United initially asked Fiorentina for a move after loaning Anderson to the Italian side in January. But Fiorentina are currently unwilling to part with Savic, who has 24 caps for Montenegro.
