Mauricio Pochettino has praised his players following Tottenham’s last gasp 1-0 victory over West Ham United at Upton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Defender Eric Dier gave Tottenham a last minute winner at a sun-kissed East London summer’s afternoon, latching onto Harry Kane’s through ball to fire home and give Spurs the win in a fiesty London derby.
Both sides were reduced to ten men, with Kyle Naughton and James Collins both received marching orders, in a game which saw West Ham’s Mark Noble missed a penalty kick.
And Pochettino praised his players, as well as stating his delight at the win to BBC Sport.
“It was an important win. I want to say congratulations to my players because it was a great performance.
“After their penalty and our sending off it was a difficult game but we played like a team and in the end deserved to win. The sending off was a surprise because the shot was not on target. It is possible that Tottenham will appeal this.
“It was a great goal by Eric Dier. He showed, and we showed, that we are ambitious. We played like a team and that is important.”
