According to Football Insider, Manchester City have acquired the rights to sign back Rabbi Matondo from FC Schalke for £60m in the future.

The 18-year-old winger who left for the Bundesliga outfit last month for £11m will be offered back to the Citizens if the club wishes to sell him later. This could be the security tip Pep Guardiola’s side will be pleased to acquire after seeing Jadon Sancho’s rise with Borussia Dortmund.

Just like Matondo, Sancho too had left the City youth ranks in 2017 in search of more playing time. Now, with 10 assists to his name this campaign, the teenager is already an England international and also one of the brightest young talents in all of Europe. If he continues to develop at the current rate, Sancho could become one of the very top attacking talents.

Matondo has expressed his intentions to follow into the footsteps of Ivan Rakitic and City teammate, Leroy Sane. After completing the switch to Schalke, he said, “Before coming here I already knew a bit about Schalke 04: Mesut Özil, Ivan Rakitic and Leroy Sané. All three of them took big steps in their careers here.”

“As well as that, I had some good chats with the coach and my new teammates only had good things to say. The Bundesliga is a great league too. Schalke 04 is the right decision for my career and I’m happy to now be a part of this club and their future plans.”
