The Citizens close to signing Chelsea flop
Manchester City are reportedly closing in on agreeing a deal with Wolfsburg for the signing of Kevin De Bruyne.
The 23-year-0ld has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bundesliga after a superb debut season for his new side, but it appears that City are new favourites to land him.
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Manchester United have all been looking at the midfielder, but it’s Manuel Pellegrini‘s side who are in pole position.
De Bruyne, who only left the Premier League a year ago, is keen on moving back to England and wants to prove to Chelsea that he can perform in the league.
According to English media, City and Wolfsburg are close to agreeing a £35million deal, which would see the ex-Chelsea star return to England just a year after they sold him.
The Belgium left Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal in 2014 after spending two consecutive seasons out on loan, at Genk and Werder Bremen.
Since joining Wolfsburg permanently, he has made 48 appearances and scored 13 goals, whilst setting up an abundance for his team-mates as well.
City Summer Plans
It’s believed that City may fund the deal by offloading Stevan Jovetic back to Italy, with Inter Milan reportedly keen on his signature.
City are expected to have a drastic Summer with plenty of players shipped out, and plenty of younger players brought in.
Pellegrini’s side is the oldest in the Premier League and with an average age of 26, they are desperate to swap the old for the young at the end of this season.
