Premier League champions Manchester City are currently scouring the market for an able defender to replace Vincent Kompany. The Citizens have been linked with Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, but are reluctant to match the mammoth ÂŁ90m price tag quoted by the Foxes.
As a result, Guardiola has switched his attention to Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci and views him as a cheaper alternative.
The 32-year-old returned to the Bianconeri last summer after spending a year with AC Milan.
According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, City will have to fork out ÂŁ45m to acquire Bonucci’s services.
Bonucci boasts a plethora of experience in top-flight football, having won 8 Serie A titles and 3 Coppa Italia titles with Juventus.
However, the Old Lady’s pursuit of Ajax youngster Matthijs de Ligt means Maurizio Sarri could be open to offloading the veteran defender.

Bournemouth’s 24-year-old defender Nathan Ake is also a possible option for the Sky Blues, according to reports.
