Manchester City qualified to the Champions League knockout stages for the first time in the club’s history after a convincing victory against CSKA Moscow tonight, and here is some match reaction from after the game.

Manchester City captain Yaya Toure:

“It’s amazing, it’s history for the club. The front two are working well, they are sharp and play well together. We must say thank you to the fans today, they showed the fans of CSKA how to support a team. Today is a special day. The target is to go as far as possible.”

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini:

“It is the first step but it’s an important one as the team has not qualified before. We have done that now.

“I always want to score goals but at least one of the CSKA goals was very easy for them. They didn’t have too many chances but scored two goals. Today we conceded soft goals again.

“The most important thing was that we can play the last two games of the group and try to come top. Then we can see in February who we get and anything can happen in the knockout stage. David Silva and Fernandinho both have small problems so we will see tomorrow what the doctor says.”

“It is difficult to know what we can do in the knockout stages. We must wait for the draw, but every team will be difficult.”
