Raheem Sterling’s Manchester City future is set to be sorted out as the winger is poised to start fresh contract talks with the club. The English international has been demanding a sharp rise in his current wage and it seems the club hierarchy are ready to pay heed to his demand.
Sterling has emerged as one of the most evolved players in the last couple of seasons and he has reinvented himself under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola. The 23 year old burst onto the scene last season as he found the net 23 times helping the Sky Blues lifting the Premier League title.
City paid a whopping £44m for his services and would be willing to recoup the money if they decide to let the player leave. The youngster currently takes home in the tune of £170,000 a week and wants at least £220,000 in the new deal.
Guardiola is an avid admirer of the player and hinted he wants the player to stay at the Etihad stadium to continue his development. “It’s well known we’re delighted with him and would like him to continue. My club knows my opinion and we share that. After that it is the club and the agent.”
