City was very close to signing him in January

Despite winning the Premier League this season, Pep Guardiola is still keen to improve the squad for the next season. Manchester City are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window to add reinforcements.

City are set to revive their interest in Riyad Mahrez by making a third attempt to sign him this summer according to The Sun. Manchester City boss Guardiola made two unsuccessful bids for the Leicester star in January, despite offering £60 million.

King Power chiefs priced him out of a move and would not settle for anything less than ÂŁ85 million. Mahrez was gutted when the Foxes refused to do business and didn’t come for training for many days.

But Guardiola is determined to bolster his firepower as he wants to provide cover for Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling. He will launch a £65 million bid for the 27 year old at the end of the season and is confident that he can land the player this time.

Mahrez has made 37 appearances for the Foxes and scored 11 goals so far this campaign. He was named PFA Players’ Player of the Year after helping Leicester to win the Premier League in 2016.
