Vincent Kompany and David Silva to miss out against Liverpool

Manchester City will be without star-duo Vincent Kompany and David Silva for today’s game against Liverpool.

The Citizens take on Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in the late kick-off today, but the Premier League table-toppers will have to do it without two of their star men.

Kompany misses out due to a calf issue, while Silva is still suffering from ankle problems which have kept him out of recent matches.

Injury Woes

The Belgium centre-back has had numerous calf issues in the past, so the latest setback will be a real concern to City and Manuel Pellegrini, especially as the defender had only just returned from his previous injury.

Kompany and Silva are just two latest players to be sidelined with injury at the Eithad, joining Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony.

Despite the two blows for Pellegrini, he has been dealt good news with the fact Sergio Aguero WILL be fit and ready to play.

“Aguero is fit, he is ready to come back,” said Pellegrini.

“Silva continues with some small pain in his ankle, so I think it’s a risk for him to play. Unfortunately, Nasri is also injured, and Kompany and Bony are also injured.”
