Manchester City target Caglar Soyuncu has admitted he would like to play under Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.
The 20-year-old has been closely monitored by Pep Guardiola and his City scouts this season and the defender’s agent confirmed earlier this week that City have been in talks over a move.
“Manchester City have made contact to us through a third party,” revealed Mustafa Dogru.
“Caglar [Soyuncu] is the type of defender that suits Pep Guardiola’s style and his goal is to play Premier League football but he is focused on Freiburg until the end of the season.”
However, the Turkey international prefers a switch to rivals Manchester United by saying he wants to work under Mourinho.
“I admire Jose Mourinho, not just his football but his philosophy,” said Soyuncu.
“I would like to work with him in the future.”
Mourinho wanted to bolster his defensive options during the January transfer window but the club ended their interest in signing Benfica star Victor Lindelof.
Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have struck up an impressive partnership in defence so far this season but reports suggest Mourinho is still looking to buy in the summer.
