Pep Guardiola wants to spend big again in the summer
Manchester City has been brilliant this season in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola has transformed this City team around, with breaking many records and on the verge of winning the Premier League.
Though after the disappointment in the Champions League against Liverpool, City are willing to spend big again the summer. They are keeping tabs on many players with Julian Weigl one of them.
Pep has prioritized signing of a defensive midfielder this summer as he knows his team rely too much on Fernandinho. They were linked with Shakhtar’s Fred initially but the Brazilian is more of a box-to-box midfielder. Furthermore, former Barcelona manager wants a passer rather than a destroyer.
As per the reports, City are more likely to move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl now. The 22 year old is a world-class talent and he could be the ideal long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
The German International is valued at £27 million but Dortmund will not want to sell one of their best talents on a bargain. City might have to pay a huge sum in order to convince the German giants to sell him.
Though the midfielder has a contract until 2021 and Dortmund are in no pressure to sell him.
