Manchester City have reportedly won the race for Espanyol youngster, Oscar Tarensi. The Spanish youth international is free to sign a contract with the Citizens when he turns 16 on January 10th.

Tarensi is regarded as one of Espanyol’s best academy products. He plays from the left and can operate from the fullback, wing and midfield positions. He has also been showcasing his talents for the La Liga outfit’s juvenile B team and impressing plenty with his skills on the ball, despite his age difference.

Manchester City have been scouting Tarensi for a long time who is considered as one of the most talented youngsters in all of Europe. The club’s youth lineup has also seen ex-Barcelona starlets, Eric Garcia and Adria Bernabe make their way over from Spain.

Espanyol could be credited with having one of the best youth development set up in the entire continent but they often fail to hold onto their most promising prospects. Recently they have lost Arnau Puigmal to Manchester United and Brian Pena, Raul Moro and Txus Alba to Barcelona. Pau Russo and Andry Gudjohnsen were also pried away by Real Madrid earlier this year.

While Manchester City remain aspirants in raising more homegrown talents, their first team are almost entirely filled with players brought in for astronomical amounts.

Recently Brahim Diaz quit the side for Real Madrid but Phil Foden still remains a heavy favourite of Pep Guardiola.
