The striker will be offered an extra year on his current deal

Manchester United are set to offer Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new deal after being impressed with the 34-year-old’s early-season form.

The former PSG striker only joined the club on a free transfer this summer, but has already netted four league goals in four games, failing to score in just one match – away to Hull City.

Ibrahimovic’s current deal is a massive ÂŁ200,000-a-week one-year deal, with the option of an extra year. However, Red Devils chiefs are keen to tie the frontman down to an extra year on top of that, that will take him close to his 38th birthday.

That news comes at the same time it has been announced that United have ended their interest in Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Ibrahimovic has proved to be arguably the best deal of the summer, so far this season, having been prolific in front of goal. However, the Red Devils had hoped to bolster their attacking talents with the return of Ronaldo, on top of the arrival of Bale.

But both players are set to sign fresh terms at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Bale is seen as the long-term successor to Ronaldo, in the Spanish capital.
