Deal will be announced over the weekend

Manchester United have reportedly won the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan, and will announce the deal over the weekend after the German has played his final game for the Bundesliga side.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months, with United and also Arsenal interested in signing him, however, it’s the former that has seemingly won the race.

Gundogan to Manchester United

According to reports, Gundogan has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League club, but the Bundesliga side don’t want to announce the deal until after their final game of the season.

Jurgen Klopp‘s men end the season this weekend and it’s believed it will then be announced that Gundogan has agreed to join Manchester United.

The fee is yet to be revealed, but it’s looking more and more likely that the German international will become Louis Van Gaal‘s second signing of the Summer already.

United have already spent ÂŁ25million on signing Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven as they look to do their business early.

Exit Confirmed

When asked about Gundogan, Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke, has confirmed that the midfielder won’t be at the club next season.

He said: “Gundogan will be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer, that is a fact. I am very confident we will see various clubs coming in for him.

“It has not been our intention to see him leaving. It was his ambition to move clubs (this summer). Therefore we agreed. We will sell him.”
