Manchester United are set to sign goalkeeper, Victor Valdes, after offering the veteran an 18-month contract.

The Spaniard has been training with United since October as he stepped up his rehabilitation from suffering a knee ligament damager earlier on in the year, and after months of speculation, it looks like he is set to sign officially for The Red Devils.

Valdes, who left FC Barcelona in the Summer, was strongly linked with AS Monaco, but the deal broke down due to his injury and the two parties called off the proposed deal.

Then, after Simon Mignolet’s struggles, Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool entered the race to sign the 32-year-old, and was close to securing a deal for the free agent, before United swooped in and offered him a chance to train with them.

Now it’s likely that the goalkeeper will put pen to paper and sign an 18-month deal at Old Trafford with an official announcement expected in the near future.
