United have been leading the race for Marco Reus all season, with his release clause set to drop to just £20 million at the end of the season.
However, Reus has shocked United this week by signing a new contract at Borussia Dortmund, which has slowed down transfer talks.
But despite this halt in preceedings, United remain confident on signing the German international, with a reported £50 million bid being planned by the Red Devils.
Louis van Gaal is understood to be desperate for the 25-year-old and although his price tag may have now increased, a potential switch cannot be ruled out.
