Manchester United and Chelsea ‘ready to battle it out for £53m rated PSG striker Edinson Cavani’
Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this summer.
The Uruguayan has scored 33 goals in 38 games, with 24 of those goals coming in 25 appearances in Ligue 1.
French reports claim that the Premier League rivals are on red alert as the Uruguay international, 31, has become unhappy at PSG due to his difficult relationship with record signing Neymar Jr.
Cavani is a fan-favourite at the Paris club, but his inability to form a positive relationship with the Brazilian has been an issue for the club’s chiefs, who are keen to keep the 26-year-old happy. The two players were involved in a tussle over spot-kick duties at the start of the season and that issue still lasts.
While, Cavani was also unhappy to be subbed off in the first leg of PSG’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid. PSG would be willing to sell the Uruguay international for around £53million. He could stay at PSG beyond the summer, however that would depend on whether manager Unai Emery leaves the club and who is brought in to replace him.
Chelsea,Arsenal and Manchester United are willing to splash the cash for his services. The former Napoli hitman is under contract until 2020, having signed a new contract with the club last April.
