Torino right-back set for £12million switch
Manchester United are closing in on their second summer signing as Matteo Darmian looks set to complete a £12million move from Serie A side Torino.
According to reports this morning, United officials are in negotiations with Torino and a deal worth £12m could be finalised over the next few weeks.
The 25-year-old has made a name for himself within Italian football over the past two seasons, and he could become Louis Van Gaal‘s second signing this summer, following Memphis Depay to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal is in the market for a new right-back, and after seeing Dani Alves pen a new deal at Barcelona, and Nathaniel Clyne join rivals Liverpool, the Dutchman has now turned his attentions to Darmian.
Another potential target is Everton‘s Seamus Coleman, but that deal doesn’t look viable for The Red Devils as The Toffees don’t want to sell.
United used Antonio Valencia at right-back for the majority of last season and Van Gaal is ready to sign a natural wing-back to replace the Ecuadorian.
The only other right-back option at the club is Rafael, but according to reports, Van Gaal has told him to find a new club.
