Manchester United are still confident that they can beat rivals Chelsea to the signing of Southampton left-back Luke Shaw in the Summer, despite The Blues being clear favourites.
According to reports, both sides are very interested in signing the 18-year-old, with United wanting to replace Patrice Evra, and Chelsea wanting a long-term replacement for Ashley Cole.
Both sides were keen on signing the Englishman in January, but The Saints made it clear that no business will be completed and they’d have to wait until the Summer to hold official talks.
When the original story broke of teams being interested in Shaw, it was reported that Shaw was a Chelsea fan as a child, so he may be leaning towards joining Stamford Bridge rather than Old Trafford.
It is believed that both teams are willing to spend up to £25million on the teenager ace, and United are still confident that they can see off Chelsea.
After David Moyes failed to bring in Leighton Baines from his former-club, all his focus turned to the Southampton man, and The Saints will be preparing themselves for a Summer battle for yet another one of their rising stars.
