Manuel Akanji has dreams of playing at Old Trafford someday.
According to 90min, Borussia Dortmund could accept a deal which would include Donny van de Beek in return.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly does not rate the Dutchman. Since his £40m arrival from Ajax, he has featured in 27 games only till now. United fans continue to see Scott McTominay, Fred, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes feature in midfield regularly.
Solskjaer wanted a creative presence other than Pogba and Fernandes but so far, Van De Beek has failed to impress. Even the 23-year-old is growing frustrated with a lack of playing time since making his dream switch to United. Perhaps, this move was never meant to be and Van De Beek should move to better prospects elsewhere.
Solskjaer does want a more able defender at the back and Akanji could be that answer. Since coming into Dortmund, the Switzerland international has made over 100 appearances. He has shown plenty of promise to make the step up to the club of his dreams.
Back in 2018, he had said, “I have a big dream. To get as far as possible in football. Since my childhood days Manchester United have been my favourite club. I’d like to play there one day.”
