Louis Van Gaal preparing £250m transfer spree

Manchester United are preparing themselves for yet another hectic Summer with reports claiming Louis Van Gaal will get up to £250million to spend on bringing in new faces to Old Trafford.

The Dutchman was already backed by the board in his first transfer window after he received a war-chest of around £150m, but it’s believed this year he will get even more finances made available.

Van Gaal is still not happy with the squad he has at Old Trafford and he wants to make drastic changes this Summer, which could see him spend over £200m.

According to reports, six new players are wanted by the manager and the board are going to back him financially and make sure he has the money available.

Van Gaal’s Shopping List

First on the wishlist is Real Madrid‘s Gareth Bale. Despite the La Liga giants confirming they have no intentions of selling the Welshman, United have left £100m aside to try and persuade the Spanish side.

The next trio on the list are; Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund, Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven and Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.

It’s believed The Red Devils are willing to pay up to £35m for the German centre-back, whilst splashing out £25m on Depay and £20m on Clyne.

Not satisfied with stopping there, Van Gaal will then look to bolster up his midfield and will try to sign Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan, who has confirmed that he won’t be signing a contract extension in Germany.

The German international has one-year left on his current deal and is said to be worth around £25m. However, United could face serious competition from Arsenal, who are reportedly interested in the holding-midfielder.

Lastly on Van Gaal’s wish-list is a new striker

With Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie reportedly on their way out of Old Trafford, United will need a new striker and Van Gaal has his eyes on Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani.

According to reports, the Uruguayan is still unsettled in Paris and doesn’t like playing on the wing in Laurent Blanc‘s 4-3-3 formation so could be willing to move.

It’s believed the striker will cost around £50m to sign.

With United’s new multi-million kit sponsor and also the new financial boost in the Premier League TV rights, this Summer spending spree isn’t out of the question for Manchester United.
