Both Darmian and Blind have fallen down the pecking order

Manchester United are expected to be busy in the summer transfer window as they are looking to bolster their side for the next season. Their priority is to add defensive reinforcements and even Jose Mourinho that he is looking to buy defenders only.

The club is also likely to sell some players to accommodate new signings. Despite having the second best defensive record in the league after Manchester City, Mourinho is not happy with his back-line.

Manchester United have told defensive pair Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind that they are free to leave Old Trafford this summer, according to The Times. The report states that neither player participated in a recent photo shoot for next season’s kit, adding more evidence they will be departing the club shortly.

Blind joined United in a ÂŁ13 million deal from Ajax in 2014, has struggled for game time this season. He has just appeared 16 times and has not started a Premier League match since August. The club exercised an option to extend the 28 year old’s contract by a further year in February in order to prevent him leaving on a free transfer.

Darmian joined United for ÂŁ13 million from Torino in 2015, has also struggled for game time. He has just made 15 appearances this season and has just over a year remaining on his current deal.

With just 1 year left on their respective contracts and the Premiere League giants have prioritized signing two new full backs, indicates that they are not in Mourinho’s plans and are ready to be sold. Both of them have attracted interest from Italy.
