Manchester United hoping to sell Fellaini to Fiorentina

Manchester United are hoping that Fiorentina step up their interest in Fellaini who is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford. Louis Van Gaal doesn’t seem to rate Fellaini and it has come to light recently that the current Dutch manager has told Ed Woodward to find the Belgian a new club before the new season. Van Gaal has also been quoted as saying Fellaini ‘isn’t a United type of player.’

The new boss wants to sell the midfielder to create funds for an audacious bid to bring Angel Di Maria to Old Trafford. The Red Devils hope they won’t take much of a loss on Fellaini however it is unlikely they will recieve anywhere neat the ÂŁ27 million David Moyes paid for the midfielder.

It is thought United are looking to sell the Belgian for ÂŁ15 million, a sum that has prompted the interest of Fiorentina. The Serie A club want to add Fellaini to a midfield that already contains former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani, Borja Valero formerly of Villareal and Juan Cuadrado among others.

United are keen to bring Di Maria to Old Trafford as last season they seemed to play quite narrow and didn’t really utilise the space down the flanks, Di Maria would do this perfectly if deployed in a wide birth. Van Gaal is willing to offer up to ÂŁ40 million for the midfielder who has been ruled out of Argentina’s World Cup semi-final with Holland due to injury.

However Real Madrid are waiting for closer to ÂŁ55 million as they look to create funds to bid for Colombia’s World Cup hero and Monaco playmaker James Rodriquez after the player admitted a move to Spain interests him. Inperticular he mentioned Real Madrid putting the club from the capital on red alert.

It seems as if Real would accept an other in the region of ÂŁ48 million for Di Maria and Van Gaal will be more willing to meet that sum if he can create funds through the sale of Fellaini.
