The 20-year-old has been in superb form this season for the Toffees and has caught the eye of former boss David Moyes.

According to reports in the Manchester Evening News, the Old Trafford top brass believe £50million would bring the Merseysiders to the negotiation table.

Roberto Martinez previously indicated he wouldn’t part with him for a world record £86million, but privately Everton are preparing themselves to receive some big money offers for one of the rising stars of the English game.

But there will have to be some significant bridge building to be done between Everton and United if a deal is to go through.

The champions made very public their desire to take both Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini to Old Trafford in a move that angered the Toffees.

News of interest in another of their prized assets is sure to antagonise chairman Bill Kenwright again, but United do not want to risk missing out on another target after a summer of missed opportunities.

High-profile swoops for Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara, as well as Baines, all fell by the wayside and the champions not to make the same mistakes this time around.
