Manchester United are ready to launch a formal move for Real Madrid defender, Raphael Varane, and will offer around £25million.
The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu after failing to break into the first-team under Carlo Ancelotti, and United are ready to battle Chelsea in the race for the centre-back’s signature.
Pepe and Sergio Ramos have kept Varane out of the first-team in Spain and after admitting over the Summer that he’ll move on if forced too, both United and Chelsea have renewed their interest in the youngster.
Jose Mourinho is desperate for a reunion with the defender, who he once labelled as the best young centre-back in the world, but it’s Louis Van Gaal who’s ready to launch the first formal move.
According to reports, United will offer £25m as an initial offer for the 21-year-old, but are prepared to go higher if needed.
