Four United stars ruled out of weekend’s encounter

Manchester United have been dealt a massive blow going into the weekend’s game with Chelsea after FOUR first-team players have been confirmed out of the squad.

Marcos Rojo (Stomach), Phil Jones (Ankle), Michael Carrick (Calf) and Daley Blind (Ankle) will all be sidelined for the game at Stamford Bridge, leaving Louis Van Gaal limited with his options.

As well as the four injured, Jonny Evans is still suspended for The Red Devils, but left-back Luke Shaw is in-line to return.

Whilst speaking in his press conference ahead of the game, Van Gaal admitted he doesn’t have many options at his disposal.

“It is the worst scenario,” said the Dutchman.

“Marcos and Phil can both play left central defender, and Jonny Evans is also suspended so I do not have many choices.

“Daley Blind and Michael Carrick could have played as holding midfields and I do not have another option. It is a puzzle.”

United in Form

United go into the game at The Bridge in great form after seeing off Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Manchester City, but with the Premier League title nearly in their hands, Chelsea will be a tough test for Van Gaal’s men.

The three league wins over close-rivals leaves Manchester United in third place and looking favourable to qualify for the Champions League after a one year absence.
