There could be a new summer transfer saga involving the two players.

Manchester United have reportedly informed Real Madrid that they would want Toni Kroos as part of any potential deal for Paul Pogba in the January transfer window.

Kroos has been with the Spanish giants since 2014 and has gone on to make 236 appearances for the club while winning a whole host of honors including a La Liga title and three Champions League trophies. The Germany international was, in fact, on the verge of joining Manchester United in 2013 only for the deal to fall through. As a result, he then opted to joined Real Madrid 12 months later.

However, German outlet BILD has claimed that the Red Devils are weighing up a €75 million move for Kroos, who began his career with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Los Blancos were desperate to sign United star Paul Pogba in the summer and could use Kroos as a makeweight in the deal, although it remains to be seen whether he would be open to an Old Trafford switch. The Madrid club are reportedly are open to letting him leave only in a swap deal for long-time target Pogba.

Nevertheless, based on the report, it would appear as though the interest is clear on both sides, and so perhaps there is a desire to sit down and discuss a possible deal involving the two players.

“Zinedine Zidane has an obsession, which is still Pogba,” Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda has told El Chiringuito TV. “The French coach is a person of fixed ideas and insists on Paul. They will try in January and there have already been the first contacts with United.”
