Manchester United are reportedly just £5 million away from matching Juventus’ valuation of Arturo Vidal, reports the Metro.

Reports in Italy suggest that United will try and land Vidal, in a swap deal involving Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, who looks set to depart Old Trafford before Monday.

Van Gaal is desperate to land another world class player, after signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid for £60 million last week, with Di Maria making his debut in Saturday’s 0-0 stalemate away at newly promoted Burnley.

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has stated his intentions to keep Vidal at the Turin club.

‘Vidal has trained well during the week. The knee must be managed, but will start against Chievo,’ he said.

‘As I said many times now, he is important to us, and therefore will remain at Juventus.
