Jose Mourinho has set his sights on FC Porto’s, Éder Militão in order to strengthen the Manchester United backline.

The Portuguese head coach wanted to make additions in the summer of 2018 itself but was denied funds by Ed Woodward. Now with United struggling to keep pace with the Premier League elites maybe Mourinho will push for reinforcements.

Militão is expected to cost around £45m as per his release clause agreement with Porto. Chelsea and Everton are also keeping tabs on the centre-half.

Latest reports claim that Mourinho had sent his scouts to watch the 20-year-old play in the 4-1 win over Portimonense. Not only will United have to fight off other suitors but also deal with Joorabchian and Militao’s other representatives Giuliano Bertolucci and Jorge Ulisses to secure a deal.

Militao is one of the finest South American talents performing in one of Europe’s top-flight leagues. He is a regular starter for Porto and has already earned a senior call-up to the Brazil national team.

He originally started his professional career with the Brazilian outfit, Sao Paolo but signed a 5-year deal with Porto before the commencement of the 2018/19 season.

Mourinho might have to get rid of a few current squad members if Woodward is to sanction another big-money move such as this.
