Jesse Lingard is set to sign a contract extension at Manchester United, with the winger only having 18-months left on his current deal.

The 23-year-old has burst onto the scene in great form this season under Jose Mourinho, scoring two goals in nine games for United so far this campaign.

Lingard’s impressive performances earned himself an international call-up from England interim boss Gareth Southgate last month.

Southgate handed the Red Devils’ Academy product his Three Lions debut against Malata and then he featured against Slovenia in England’s World Cup qualification campaign.

The Daily Mail claim that the winger will soon be rewarded with a new four-year contract at Old Trafford, which will see his wages double from £30,000-per-week to £60,000-per-week.

It is also reported that he will renegotiate an existing sponsorship deal with United’s main sponsor Adidas – a deal understood to be worth a seven-figure total.

On Lingard’s recent England call-up, Mourinho said: “One was a debutant, the other [Ander Herrera] was a call-up to the Spanish team.

“It’s obviously important for them and it’s good for me and I think also the club feels proud of it.”
