Manchester United Still Keen On Signing Nikola Milenkovic

Latest reports confirm that Manchester United are still in contact with Nikola Milenkovic’s agent after firing Jose Mourinho earlier this month. The former Portuguese manager was scouting the 21-year-old for a possible transfer in the January window.

Milenkovic operates in the centre-back position and was thought out to be the man to stabilise United’s woeful defence. Mourinho failed to get the best out of his previous signings, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof to see the team slide to the 6th spot of the Premier League.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones were not rated highly by the 55-year-old either, in turn, pressuring Ed Woodward to lay out more cash for reinforcements.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has gotten off to a wonderful start to his managerial career at Old Trafford, the Red Devils hierarchy clearly believe that additions are necessary. Recently, Juventus winger, Douglas Costa has also been linked with the club.

Milenkovic is a regular starter for Serie A outfit, Fiorentina and was seen taking the pitch for Serbia in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He already has 10 caps to his name for his country. His current deal with the Violas is set to run till the summer of 2022.

The defender’s transfer could cost the Red Devils up to £34m, as per reports.
