There is a new contract on the table for the world-class midfielder.

Lazio and Serbia midfielder Milinkovic-Savic is set to pen a new mega-money deal with the Serie A outfit.

Despite struggling to impose himself last season after a brilliant breakout 2017/2018 season, Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic was still subject to intense speculation. During his time at Italy, the midfielder has managed to bag a total of 31 goals and 19 assists in 164 games in all competitions, an impressive return to say the least.

With form like that, it’s easy to see why the 24-year-old was being linked with moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer. The Serbian international was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United early in the summer window, with reports indicating that he was their top replacement for Paul Pogba.

With Pogba opting to stay at the Old Trafford as well, clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain were mentioned, but nothing had actually happened in the meantime. And now, after all the talks and rumors have settled down, Milinkovic-Savic is close to signing a new deal with Lazio.

According to Il Messaggero newspaper, the Biancocelesti are trying to finalize terms for an extension to his current deal, which runs to 2023, with the Italian giants also looking to insert a €100 million plus release clause into the Serb’s deal.

Should Milinkovic-Savic end up penning a new deal with Lazio that contains a big release clause of more than €100 million, it won’t come as good news for United should they be actually end up making a move for him in the future. The player’s salary would also be boosted to €3 million per season net along with numerous bonuses, with extra bonuses for every goal or assist provided.
