Manchester United To Break Bank For Kalidou Koulibaly

Manchester United are certainly stealing the headlines with talks of a remarkable ÂŁ100m transfer for Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Jose Mourinho is setting up plans for improvements through the January transfer market and the 27-year-old seems to be at the very top of his shopping list.

Koulibaly is regarded as one of the finest defensive figures in Serie A and top-flight European football. If he is to make his way over to Old Trafford for the quoted figure, the Red Devils will break the transfer record held by their direct rivals, Liverpool for the most expensive defensive signing.

The team is struggling to keep up with the rest of the Premier League elites this season, mostly due to their woeful defensive efforts. An early impressor since his United introduction, Eric Bailly has fallen short in his duties this term and is already at the centre of exit talks. Other figures such as Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones have not exactly faired any better either.

Koulibaly could be a highly decorated replacement, hailing from the same continent of Africa. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, Koulibaly is the very definition of athleticism and strength. Paired with his leadership qualities and footballing intelligence he could succeed in bringing this United team together.

United’s chances of getting the Senegalese international certainly improved this week following their progression into the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, while Napoli bowed out of the competition.
