It seems problems are not leaving Manchester United even off the field. The Red Devils have been charged by the UEFA for being late to the stadium prior to their Champions League encounter with Valencia at the Old Trafford.

The match started at 8.05 pm, five minutes late from the scheduled time. Jose Mourinho later explained in the post match press conference the bus stuck in traffic as Greater Manchester Police (GMP) didn’t provide a police escort for the team bus.

United started their journey from Lowry hotel to the stadium at 6 pm but couldn’t arrive within the scheduled time. Later GMP hit back at Mourinho as they issued a statement stating they were never in the place to provide an escort for United.

UEFA has now opened disciplinary proceedings against the club and the verdict will be delivered on 18th October. The Red Devils are unlikely to face any sanction as it was their first offence and could receive a formal warning from football’s governing body.

Valencia have also been charged for two conducts, setting off of fireworks” and a “kit infringement”. United were held by Valencia in an entertaining goalless draw.
