Manchester United to offer £20 million for Atletico Madrid’s Miranda

Manchester United are lining up a £20 million January bid for central defender Miranda from Atletico Madrid, reports in Spain have revealed.

Miranda had been linked with a move to Old Trafford in previous windows, but United will put all their efforts into signing the Brazilian this time around.

Saturday’s 1-0 win against Crystal Palace saw Paddy McNair and Daley Blind become United’s 11th centre back pairing in all competitions this season.

With Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Rafael all out injured, Louis van Gaal has had to rely on a makeshift defence, but would have been pleased they kept a clean sheet last time out.

The Red Devils’ attempts to bring in Mats Hummels and Ron Vlaar have been unsuccessful as yet, so the club seem to have turned their attention to signing Miranda.

But they have a job on their hands convincing Miranda to leave Atletico and their charismatic manager Diego Simeone.

Despite losing talismanic striker Diego Costa to Chelsea, the reigning Spanish champions are only four points off the top in La Liga, and are top of their Champions League group.
