Signing Defenders is priority for Jose Mourinho this summer
Manchester United are likely to be busy during the summer transfer window, in order to challenge for Premier League title next season. With many players expected to leave, Jose Mourinho has prioritized adding defensive reinforcements this summer.
Mourinho recently claimed that he will be looking to add defenders only this summer as he is happy with the attacking unit the team have. Main priority of the Portuguese is to sign a left back given persistent problems with Luke Shaw, who is likely to leave this summer.
Ashley young has been starting in the left back position this season but he is 32 years old. United are looking for a long term prospect and have turned their attention towards Celtic’s left-back.
Manchester United will send scouts to Sunday’s game between Celtic and Rangers to watch Kieran Tierney, says  The Daily Mail . The Scotland international has already attracted attention from across Europe, with the Red Devils having long been credited with an interest in him.
Tierney had been recommended by United scouts to Mourinho and went to watch him last month in Scotland’s 1-0 defeat by Costa Rica. But the 20 year old was withdrawn from the squad.
Tierney has already captained Scotland at such a young age and is level-headed and hard-working, someone who works hard for the team. He is extremely solid in defense and can play anywhere across the backline.
Although Tierney recently signed a long-term contract with Celtic, he is expected to move on to a new adventure eventually and a strong performance in the Scottish Cup semi-final could make an impression on United.
