In a day of shocks and upsets, the biggest one came at Old Trafford as Manchester United fell to a 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

Below you can read some of the reaction from the manager’s after the game.

West Brom boss Steve Clarke:

“It is great and fantastic for the players,” Clarke said. “Today my one wish is the players are getting the credit and we are talking about how good we were and not how poor Manchester United were.

“We came here not to sit and defend but to come out and go for it. We made some late additions in the transfer window and now hopefully are fans can see we can have another good season.”

“They were two great goals. “The first was individual but the second was a good team effort, we played the ball neatly around the area.

“Saido does what he does best, he scores goals. It is good for everyone, especially for him as he has worked hard to get where he is. He is giving me lots of headaches as he is pushing himself into the team.

“Defensively we have been solid this year – two fantastic away performances at Fulham and Everton. We had that again today and a great performance in goal from Boaz Myhill who should not go unnoticed.”

Manchester United manager David Moyes:

“We did not defend well at all but we didn’t attack well either today. We had a lot of the ball in the first half but didn’t make the most of it. We had one or two chances but just didn’t take them,” Moyes said.

“No worries about the crowd because it was great. The stadium in mid-week was in great voice. People come here expecting us to play well but we didn’t play well. We tried to pick it up in the second half but we got done by it as well.

“You’re always going to have bad results. It is how you deal with them. There are lots of games to come and it’s about how you deal with them, so we look forward to them.”
