Young midfielder Davide Petrucci has agreed to join Romanian side CFR Cluj, after agreeing to have his Manchester United contract terminated.
The 22 year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Louis Van Gaal, having been left out of the Dutchman’s 25 man squad for this season’s Premier League.
He was brought to the Manchester club by then manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2008 from AS Roma, who had initial high hopes for him following his signing.
However, Petrucci had been unable to hold down a regular place in the squad so is seeking pastures new in Romania.
The deal that he has agreed is an initial one year contract, with the option of a futher two years. The player has Championship experience having turned out on loan for Peterborough and Charlton, as well as Royal Antwerp in Belgium.
