Manuel Pellegrini believes West Ham United showed the big team mentality in their 3-1 win over Manchester United in the Premier League.

Goals from Felipe Anderson, Marko Arnautovic and an own goal from Victor Lindelof was enough to seal three points for the London side. Marcus Rashford did put up some fight by putting one back for the visitors but couldn’t do much as the Hammers secured a crucial home win.

The hammers might have not lost their last three Premier League matches but they had a dreadful start to the new season under the tutelage of Pellegrini. Four losses on a trot had started to shackle their beliefs following an eventful summer transfer window.

But in the last few matches, Pellegrini seems to have brought a sense of stability to the side and the performance against United is a result of that. The boss said, “It was a very good game because I remember what I said three weeks ago when we were losing games, that we had to play as a big team and I think what we did today reflected that.

“We are improving and we must continue in the same way. Just because you are playing against Chelsea or Manchester United, you don’t have to play with everyone at the back to get a result.

“Today we played as I like my team to play – as a big team trying to get to the other box. They scored just one goal from a corner, so it’s a massive result and a massive performance.
