Manuel Pellegrini has made it clear Samir Nasri needs to be fully fit before donning the West Ham jersey.
The French man has been training with the London giants since mid November and the club is very keen to offer him a short term contract with an option to extend it further.
Nasri was banned for taking illegal substances and cannot resume football until January. However, he is free to train with any club since November and the former Arsenal playmaker is trying to build up his fitness before signing on the dotted line with the Hammers.
Having guided Nasri during his stint at Manchester City Pellegrini has been very keen to bring the player to London stadium. With Andriy Yarmolenko sidelined for the rest of the season Nasri’s creativity could help Pellegrini to battle it out in the Premier League.
On being asked about Nasri’s prospect of signing for the club the Hammers boss answered, “We will see. Samir Nasri is working with us after a long ban. We are giving him a hand to return to football.
“I hope that from now until the end of the year he will be fit and if that is the case we will try to keep him here at West Ham.”
